Baggy Girl Summer Is Here. And She’s Thriving.
Listen. I’m done pretending I want to wear anything bodycon in June, July, or honestly, ever again. Tight clothes in the summer? In this heat? In this economy? No thank you. This season, I’m fully leaning into what I’m calling Baggy Girl Summer — a movement, a mindset, a very breathable state of mind.
It’s cool, it’s relaxed, it’s a little masculine and a lot feminine. Basically, it’s the rich auntie aesthetic with more linen and zero effort. Below are the looks I’m living in right now. Yes, everything is linked. I would never gatekeep.
Look One: Effortless but Elevated
Abercrombie’s Linen-Blend Barrel Pull-On Pant in tan with their Ruched Tie Front Top in white is giving effortless cool. The pants are roomy in the best way and the top is flirty but not doing too much. Throw on oversized black sunnies and a simple black sandal and you're channeling “I summer in the South of France” without even leaving the neighborhood.
Look Two: Crisp, Cool, Can’t Be Bothered
You already know a crisp white shirt is one of my forever favorites, so of course I’m obsessed with a crisp white shirt dress. COS has two I’m loving right now. The Belted Short-Sleeved Midi if you want a little waist action, or the Rounded Linen-Cotton Shirt Dress for a more relaxed, flowy vibe.
Pair either with their Raffia Woven Tote, chunky gold jewelry, and a sandal. Brown or black. Your choice. It’s giving summer in Spain. It’s giving mysterious and unbothered. It’s giving "don’t talk to me unless you brought good bread."
Look Three: Baggy Girl Starter Pack
I’ve officially joined the boxer trend and I have no regrets. These Drawstring Shorts from & Other Stories are easy, cute, and the perfect length. I wear them with my forever favorite: Mango’s Short Sleeve Linen-Blend Shirt. It’s on sale and under $40 right now, and somehow survived a full coffee spill with just water and a napkin in the back of a Fiat. High quality confirmed! Underneath, I go with my Athleta tank so I can skip the bra and just be freakin’ free.
Look Four: The Jean That Has Me in a Chokehold
I already gushed about Abercrombie’s Low Rise Ultra Loose Jean, but now they’ve dropped it in a white ecru with a drawstring and I am not okay. They came in the mail yesterday and I cannot wait to wear these with literally everything above. The tie front top from Look One. The Mango shirt. The Athleta tank. Add the big raffia tote and keep your accessories minimal. Voila!
